Job Description

Opportunity (Part-Time): International Humanitarian Rights Law/Law of Armed Conflict Subject Matter Expert (Lawyer) Support to Security Cooperation Project.

Bottom Line Up Front: Hoplite Group is seeking an International Humanitarian Rights Law/Law of Armed Conflict (IHRL/LOAC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support engagements focused on rule of law training as required by Section 333 of Title 10. This effort is in support of an active/existing Department of Defense contract.

Location: Remote support (CONUS) and forward engagements (OCONUS)

Level of Effort:
  • Pre-Engagement: 20 hours
  • Engagement: 24 hours
  • Post-Engagement: 6 hours
  • We anticipate a large number of requests for this tasking throughout 2025
 
Availability: Immediate

Objective: To provide rule of law training seminars to a partner nation focused on international humanitarian rights law.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

 
  • A Juris Doctor’s degree from an accredited college/university (or other similar advanced legal degree such as an LLB or Master of Laws (LLM)) from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in the field of international human rights and humanitarian law.
  • Recent and relevant international instructional experience in the proposed subject matter with delivery to an international audience composed of mid-level to senior ranking military and security sector personnel. Recent experience is defined as within the last two (2) years.
  • Ability to communicate complex multifaceted legal issues in an effective manner, lead classroom discussions, tailor material to the intended audience, and conduct appropriate assessment, monitoring, and evaluation (AM&E) relating to the material delivered.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team instructional environment often in austere conditions.  
  • Former Judge Advocate Corps (JAG) military lawyer a strong advantage.
  • Department of Defense current / active Secret Clearance is a must.
